Can carbon trading help in the fight against destabilizing climate change? This contribution to a US website debate, Opposing Views, argues that the answer is no. Carbon trading:

  1. is aimed at the wrong objective
  2. squanders resources on the wrong things
  3. requires knowledge and institutions that do not exist
  4. is antidemocratic
  5. interferes with positive solutions, and
  6. is based more on vague ideology than concrete experience.
